Hephaistos’ MDT – Day 15: Mundane Practices

Χαίρετε ἀναγρνώστες!

I will discuss today what kind of mundane practices can be done in honour of Hephaistos. It’ll be pretty short though, I expect.

The only thing I can think of it simply to make things with our own hands, in particular things like pottery, statuettes, rings, etc. Or, of course, maintaining and fixing things yourself, from cars to your home’s infrastructure. Hephaistos is a God of Crafts, Smithing, Metallurgy, Industry, Infrastructure, etc. Doing anything in these area’s, even just as a hobby, can be a way to honour Hephaistos.

As I mentioned in my posts on modern social and cultural issues that may interest Hephaistos, volunteering in charities or aid programs to help people with disabilities can be another mundane practice that can be done in Hephaistos’ honour. For example, at my former university, you could volunteer to help disabled students in their classes by taking notes for those unable to make them themselves quickly enough to keep up. You could opt to stay at special dormitories where able students are paired with disabled students to help in their care, help them get to their classes, etc.

This is about all I could think of, but if you can think of more, please leave a comment. The more suggestions there are, the better!
